Police are still looking for the suspect they believe is responsible for firing shots into two separate ATMs in the past nine days.

Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said the police department received an alarm call at 2 a.m. Monday that showed heat and motion had been detected at the Listerhill Credit Union’s ATM, which is located on U.S. 43 close to Pizza Hut in Russellville.

Hargett said units arrived quickly to the scene after the call was received and discovered two heavy load rounds had been fired into the machine.

Police investigator Lt. Scotty Lowery said the rounds appeared to come from a shotgun.

Investigators said no money was taken during the incident.

Lowery said video surveillance and other factors have given police reason to believe the same person responsible for this crime is also responsible for a similar crime that took place last Saturday, June 28.

This incident occurred at 2:30 a.m. at the ATM located at Community Spirit Bank in the Foodland shopping center on U.S. 43 in Russellville.

Hargett said video surveillance captured a man wearing sunglasses and a towel around his face who came up to the ATM and began firing shots.

He said investigators at the scene found three holes in the machine and three shotgun shells on the ground.

Anyone who has any information about either of these incidents is asked to call the Russellville Police Department at 256-332-2230.
