Annual 5K run held last weekend

By Bart Moss

For the FCT

The annual Judy James Memorial 5K Run was held in conjunction with the Phil Campbell Hoedown Saturday morning.

All the proceeds from the run go directly to pancreatic cancer research.

“We appreciate everyone who helped with the race and those who participated in it,” Tyler James said.

“We do this run every year in honor of our mother who passed away after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.”

There were 47 runners who participated in the 5K (3.1 miles).

The top five males were: Adam Benefield (18:08), Buddy Purdue (19:22), Matt Lyle (20:48), Chad Pickett (23:29) and Matthew Vinson (24:35).

The top five females were: Elizabeth Baty (23:35), Beth Raper (24:57), Jeania Norton (25:43), Wenonah Hulsey (26:24) and Erin Gilbert (26:56).

The full list of participants and their times is as follows:
