Junior high county tournament gets underway

Two weeks of Franklin County Tournament action started Saturday at Vina High School.

The Red Devils are hosting the junior high portion of the tournament this week. Phil Campbell will be hosting the varsity portion of the tournament next week at Northwest-Shoals Community College.

There were several games Saturday setting the stage for the remainder of the junior high division of the Franklin County Tournament this week.

Below is a summary of the games played Saturday and the remaining matchups by division:

 

7th/8th Grade Girls Division

Belgreen defeated Phil Campbell to advance to the finals to play top-seed Red Bay on Saturday at 12 p.m.

 

9th Grade Girls Division

Red Bay defeated East Franklin to advance to the semifinals to play second-seed Tharptown on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Phil Campbell defeated Vina to advance to the semifinals to play top-seed Belgreen on Thursday at 5:15 p.m.

The winners of these games will advance to the finals on Saturday at 3 p.m.

 

7th/8th Grade Boys Division

Red Bay defeated East Franklin to advance to the semifinals to take on top-seed Belgreen on Thursday at 4 p.m.

The winner will advance to the finals on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. to take on Tharptown, who defeated second-seed Phil Campbell.

 

9th Grade Boys Division

Tharptown defeated Vina to advance to the semifinals to take on top-seed Phil Campbell on Thursday at 7:45 p.m.

The winner of that game will advance to the finals on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. to take on Belgreen, who defeated East Franklin on Saturday.
