Trailing by four points going into the fourth quarter, the Red Bay Lady Tigers came back to score 22 points to take a 63-55 win over New Site in the Tigers’ Thanksgiving tournament on November 26.

“That was a great win for us,” Lady Tigers’ head coach Donnie Roberts said.

“We got behind, but these girls never gave up. They pulled together and came out with a win.”

Carlee Berry, Allie Kenedy and Darby Madden tossed in three consecutive three pointers at the beginning of the final period to take a 50-47 lead.

New Site went up again by two points, but Red Bay’s Morgan Pierce tossed in a two-pointer to tie the game at 52-52.

Madden added a putback and Berry hit a shot off the glass to give Red Bay their biggest lead of the night.

Red Bay added seven free throws in the final minute take the win.

The Lady Tigers led at the end of the first quarter by a score of 14-13, but the Lady Royals outscored Red Bay in the second, 22-17, to take a 35-31 lead at halftime.

Both teams tied in the third quarter scoring at 10 each, but Red Bay outscored New Site 22-10 in their fourth quarter rally.

Allie Kennedy led all scorers with 19 points. Hope Cook scored 10, Kasey Sparks, Carlee Berry, and Darby Madden each tossed in nine. Red Bay’s Morgan Pierce netted seven.

In game one of the tournament on Tuesday night, Fulton defeated Tanner 51-28. The Lady Rattlers also dropped New Site by a score of 70-51 in game one on Monday.

Red Bay defeated Fulton 61-54 in game two on Monday. Kennedy led Red Bay with 26 points. Sparks and Elizabeth Wooten each had 13.

Red Bay will host the beginning of area play on Dec. 3 against Colbert Heights.
