R.A. Hubbard too much for Tharptown

NORTH COURTLAND — Tharptown Coach Bill Smith said the Wildcats must move on and not dwell on Friday’s 46-6 loss to R.A. Hubbard.
“We can’t hang our heads,” Smith said. “We still have a chance to make the playoffs if we can get back on track.”
The loss dropped the Wildcats to 3-3 for the season.
Trying to slow the Chiefs presented a challenge for the Wildcats, Smith said.
“They have tremendous speed and quickness and we are still playing a little bit crippled,” Smith said. “We’ve just got to learn from this game and get better.”
Tharptown’s only points of the night came on a 16-yard pass from Christopher Bohannon Jr. to Trent Miller with 3:59 remaining in the game.
The Chiefs scored their first touchdown on their second play of the night when John Owens ran 7 yards.
The Chiefs led 20-0 at halftime.
R.A. Hubbard also scored on its first possession of the second half and built its lead to 40-0 by the end of the third quarter.
Tharptown drove to the Chief’s 2-yard-line early in the fourth quarter, but was unable to score.
The lone Wildcat scoring drive covered 35 yards in three plays.
The Wildcats host Shoals Christian Friday.
