Woman accused of allowing relationship between teenage daughter and 36 year-old man

A woman who allegedly facilitated a sexual relationship between her 14-year-old daughter and a 36-year-old man was indicted by the September grand jury along with the man involved in the relationship.

Lorie Hopson, 33, 9165 Franklin 81, Lot 2, Russellville, was indicted for aiding and abetting a person committing the offense of second-degree rape.

Records show she received this charge for allowing her teenage daughter to have sex on multiple occasions with 36-year-old Jose Jimenez.

Jimenez, of 295 Franklin 40, Phil Campbell, was indicted for second-degree rape.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, a family member contacted the Franklin County Department of Human Resources concerning the allegations in April, but Oliver said Hopson denied that a sexual relationship was taking place.

Oliver said the sheriff’s office was contacted directly on May 26 and told the girl was still sexually involved with Jimenez and an investigation was started.

“We were told that [Hopson] was taking her daughter to this man’s house and leaving her there, sometimes for up to a week at a time,” Oliver said.

“[Hopson] said her daughter was threatening to run away with him to Mexico to get married and she was allowing the relationship in order to keep her family together, but that is still no reason to let this to go on.”

Oliver said the relationship between Jimenez and the teenager had reportedly gone on for three months.

“This is just a sad situation, especially since it involved the child’s own mother,” Oliver said.

Both cases are set for arraignment on Oct. 29, according to Rushing.
