G-Men win again over New England

For those of you who haven’t heard my incoherent ravings yet, I am in charge of designing part of page two, all of page four and the entire sports page.

I’d like to give a shout out to Jeremy Reed, a Phil Campbell basketball player, who said he had a much greater appreciation for what I did after he found out I spend as much time in the office designing pages as I do on the sidelines of sporting events.

Anyway, if you look at the political cartoon on page four, you will see something that I am in charge of placing on the page, so I select all of those.

I am pointing you, the reader, in its direction because it perfectly sums up Super Bowl XLVI for me.

I spent the game at my brother’s house in Tuscaloosa with him, his girlfriend three of my friends.

I didn’t see an entire series after the first couple because I more or less lost interest.

Hanging out was more fun that watching a team I am indifferent to — the Giants — hopefully beat a team I hate — the Patriots.

Fortunately that came to pass.

I kept looking up at the TV at random intervals to see that the score was different, and I kept wondering when the team had scored because I couldn’t remember it.

At least we had some good food and good friends around to break up the monotony of the 2008 rematch.

I kept thinking that there was no way New York would lose.

They beat the Pats in ’08 with what I estimate as a slightly worse team against a much better opponent.

The only part of the G-Men that was better four years ago was the receiving core.

Otherwise this season’s team has the advantage.
