Bobcats fall in region opener 47-20

PHIL CAMPBELL — Midway through the first quarter it looked as though Colbert Heights would cruise to a victory in its region opener at Phil Campbell, but the host Bobcats had different ideas.

After falling behind 14-0, Phil Campbell rallied to tie the game. The momentum shifted back to Colbert Heights, however, and the Wildcats were able to pull away for a 47-20 victory.

Tyson Sumerel found Jamie Dorroh for a 15-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring for Phil Campbell (1-1, 0-1).

Early in the second quarter Sumerel connected with Craig Saint for an 83-yard touchdown pass to tie the game 14-14.

Colbert Heights added a pair of touchdowns before halftime to take control of the game with a 28-14 advantage. The Wildcats (2-0, 1-0) padded their lead with two more touchdowns before Phil Campbell could score again.

Sumerel hit Saint for another touchdown pass, this time for 35-yards, but the 2-point conversion failed. Colbert Heights answered with another score.

Phil Campbell will travel to Lamar County next week for its first road game of the season.
