Dessa Stancil, 90, Spruce Pine, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2011 at Russellville Hospital.

Funeral services were held on Friday, May 27, 2011 at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jerome Sherrill and Bro. John Stancil officiating.  Burial was in Shady Grove Cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Stancil, and her parents, Hershel and Beulah Cook.

She is survived by her sons, Erwin Stancil and his wife, Nell, of Spruce Pine; Jimmy Stancil and his wife, Carolyn, of Mt. Hope; Jerry Stancil and his wife, Sandra, of Spruce Pine; sister, Lexie Swinney; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
