Two arrested for active meth lab

Two Franklin County residents are in custody after deputies discovered an active meth lab in their residence of one of the defendants.

Brian Christopher Blevins, 40, 1212 McCarley Road, Phil Campbell, was charged with first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance and trafficking methamphetamine.

Melissa Jean Rimmer, 29, 175 Franklin 144, Russellville, was charged with first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance, trafficking methamphetamine and was arrested on a felony warrant for first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance.

According to Franklin County Sheriff Shannon Oliver, sheriff’s deputies were serving the felony warrant for first-degree manufacturing of a controlled substance at Rimmer’s residence when the deputies smelled a strong chemical odor, which they believed was coming from a meth lab.

After investigators arrived at the scene, they discovered an active meth lab as well as other chemicals and equipment used to manufacture methamphetamine, Oliver said.

The Russellville Fire Department’s hazmat team was called to assist with the removal and disposal of the lab and the chemicals.

Investigators said both Rimmer and Blevins were in the residence at the time the lab was discovered and were arrested for their involvement in the crime.

Blevins, who was arrested on Feb. 22 for having multiple meth labs at his residence, had only been released from the Franklin County Jail for four days before he was arrested for his involvement in this meth lab.

Franklin County District Attorney Joey Rushing said he has filed a motion to revoke Blevins’ bond and it is scheduled for a hearing Thursday afternoon.

Both Blevins and Rimmer are being held at the Franklin County Jail on $10,000 and $15,000 bonds respectively.
