I can’t figure out network executives

Attention everyone! Lets all have a moment of silence for the best show to have ever hit a network — NBC’s “Heroes.”

OK, now let’s complain a little about why the show got cancelled. I hate it when a television show sucks me in then all of a sudden disappears to return to the tube never again.

Now I will never know what happened to Hiro Nakamora with his illness or Claire Bennett when she exposed her powers to the world.

“Heroes” was probably one of the best shows on television, until NBC network executives pulled the plug. I know it had already run for three seasons, but we could have at least got a proper ending to the saga?

I really wish I could get an explanation to why they cut the show. They could have cut a million of other worthless shows with sketchy scripts.

They for sure could have gotten rid of that ridiculous “Marriage Ref,” which has turned out to be nothing but the rich and famous making fun and downing the lower-class citizens.

OK — I’ll just accept that “Heroes” is officially dead, but hopefully “Friday Night Lights” will run a couple of more seasons to make up for the loss.

While I am on the subject, a friend of mine asked me to talk a little about MTV’s 16 and Pregnant series.

My thoughts on the subject is kind of mixed. I get that MTV is trying to show how rough life is for a 16-year-old girl trying to juggle teen life and a baby at the same time, but my fear is that they are actually promoting the situation.

I know that may sound odd but hear me out — although the series shows the heartaches of teen pregnancy, at the end it shows them making it and being happy about it.

If I were a producer, I wouldn’t even touch the subject. Now they have extended the series into a “Teen Mom” series, which can really start to motivate teens to have premarital relations and have a baby.

I can just see teen girls be like ‘Well if they can do it, I can too,’ which I don’t think is the message MTV is trying to get across.

This may be off the subject a little, but I have to tell everyone the joke I heard on “Last Comic Standing” auditions before I end this piece. I can’t remember her name but she made a perfect joke about television networks.

She began by saying how much she was sick of sports and all the networks that target the male demographic like ESPN, ESPN2, FOX SportsSouth, TNT, TBS, and others. She said women only have one network for them and that is ‘Lifetime: television for women.’

She said and they say it real softly to suck all the women in to watch that one channel. She said one day she began watching the network and there is nothing but movies portraying wives getting cheated on, women getting raped, assaulted and molested. She said she would never be able to figure that one out.

After hearing that, I was kind of at a loss for words. Why would women even want to watch a channel that portrays all of that stuff against them?

That’s insane!

But in all seriousness, I hope networks will take a really good look at series numbers before letting them go.

I guarantee “Heroes” had enough viewers to go a few more seasons.

There, I’ve said my peace. Until next time, Later Dayz…
