Life on the brink of change

Pre-registration at the hospital has been taken care of, the baby shower has been thrown, diapers have been bought, a room has been set up perfectly and the closet is full of cute little baby dresses.
Multiple time-occupying devices such as bouncers and swings have all been put together, but I still don’t believe I am totally prepared for what is about to happen.
With the due date getting closer, I think we have stuffed our house with all things baby girl. If it just so happened to fool us and come out a boy we would be in deep trouble.
Hopefully we haven’t forgot anything, but not to worry if we have, someone is bound to either let us know about it or take it upon him or herself to buy it for us, which if they buy it my wife and I are both thankful because we need to save all money possible.
I am going to go ahead and apologize up front to the folks at Russellville Hospital and our neighbors at home. I am afraid everyone we have been associated with in our lifetime is going to chaotically burst into the hospital once we give them that faithful text or call “Baby coming, at hospital” to family and friends.
If they don’t show at the hospital, they will definitely take up some parking space around our home, so please forgive my family and me.
Ok, now that I have gotten that out of the way, lets talk strategy. I believe being calm needs to be top priority on my mind when my wife looks at me and says “my water just broke,” but for some reason I don’t see me being that way.
I may just pass out cold on the floor.
No, just kidding, but I might possibly be in such a rush I will forget exactly where I am going and have to turn around a time or two. Believe me, that is possible because if Amy and I go on a trip somewhere, you can bet your bottom dollar we are going to turn around at least once.
The plan is to go through the emergency room to get to labor and delivery at night time and day time go through the front, as long as we make it there safe, I honestly don’t care how I get inside.
I’ll bust some glass if I got too, again just kidding.
With all jokes aside, I’m excited and anxious.
I have heard all of the horror stories, you can’t sleep, can’t eat, there’s no more privacy, going to Wal-Mart isn’t going to be that easy anymore, blah blah blah.
I honestly can’t wait for her to come into the world and wrap me around her little finger. Mom and dad says there is nothing like it in the world and I hope I am able to come close to being as good as a parent as they were to me.
Amy has begun her weekly visit to the doctor and as of Monday they found she had dilated to one centimeter so if you don’t here from me next weekend I’ll be at the hospital.
There I’ve said my peace. Until next time, Later Dayz…
