UPDATE: Smith leaves Vina, moves to Tharptown

The Franklin County Board of Education unanimously approved the hiring of long-time Vina head football coach Bill Smith Thursday as the new coach at Tharptown.
Smith replaces Clint Nunley, who served as the school’s head coach for one year.
Vina made the Class 1A playoffs in 2009 for the first time in several years.
The vacant Vina position will be posted and the search for a replacement will immediately be underway.
