Tigers travel to Lamar County

RED BAY – The last few weeks of the regular season is when playoff bound teams want to build momentum as they begin their quest for a state title.
Red Bay had similar goals, but a four-game losing streak to end the season prevented the Tigers from building any useful momentum.
"We hit a skid, but we're back on track," said Red Bay coach Dale Jeffreys. "The kids are playing as hard as they can play."
The Tigers have been plagued by injuries all season and are now short five players that were listed as starters at the beginning of the season.
It will not get easier this week as the Tigers travel to Lamar County for a first-round playoff game.
The Bulldogs are 10-0 and averaging 41.4 points per game while allowing only 12 points.
"They are exceptional on defense," Jeffreys said. "It will be hard to make first downs."
Red Bay is scoring 22.9 points and allowing 21.9 points per game.
The Red Bay defense will also be challenged as the Bulldogs run out of multiple formations and shift until the snap of the ball to keep opponents confused.
Jeffreys said he would like to have tougher practices to prepare his team, but the injuries make that difficult.
"I don't have any complaints. I couldn't ask much more out of them," Jeffreys said. "I hope we go down there and play hard and see what happens."
The game begins at 7 p.m
