Vina falls to Hubbertville

By Staff
VINA – Vina's three-game winning streak came to an end Thursday night as the Red Devils fell to Hubbertville 28-26.
Morgan McCarley hit Brent Townsend for a 20-yard touchdown pass to give Vina an 8-7 lead in the first quarter, but Hubbertville added another score to regain the lead.
The Red Devils had an opportunity to take the lead, but an interception in the end zone right before halftime ended the threat.
Hubbertville scored on a 20-yard run to increase its lead to 21-8.
McCarley threw his second touchdown pass of the night to Adam Pharr on a 15-yard play. McCarley scored on the 2-point conversion to cut the deficit to 21-16.
Hubbertville added a score on a long run in the closing minutes of the game to secure the victory.
"The kids played a hard ballgame," said Vina coach Bill Smith. "There were too many turnovers. We shot ourselves in the foot."
