Lions look to clinch GSC title

By Staff
UNA puts its undefeated record on the line today as the Lions travel to Arkansas-Monticello for the final road game of the regular season.
The Lions (9-0, 6-0) can clinch the Gulf South Conference title out-right with a win.
UNA has won the last six meetings between the two teams and leads the overall series 8-3. In addition to the win streak against Arkansas-Monticello, the top-ranked Lions hold a 22-game winning streak against schools from Arkansas.
Several UNA players have had impressive seasons.
Quarterback Harrison Beck has a streak of six straight games in which he has passed for three touchdowns or more.
Defensive back Quinton Andrews has been clutch for the Lions all season and has scored a handful of defensive touchdowns.
UNA is also the most penalized team in the GSC. The Lions are averaging 11 penalties for 103 yards per game.
Despite the miscues, the Lions are also one of the highest scoring teams in the nation. They are averaging 44 points per game.
The defense has played just as well for UNA, allowing only 14.1 points per game.
Arkansas-Monticello is averaging 22.8 points per game and allowing 29.9 points.
