Hubbard blanks THS

The Tharptown football team completed its region schedule Friday night with a 52-0 loss at R.A. Hubbard.
The Wildcats got off to a slow start by fumbling the opening kickoff. Three plays later the Chiefs (7-1, 5-0) scored and added another touchdown midway through the first quarter.
Hubbard capitalized on another Tharptown fumble in the first quarter to push its lead to 20-0. The Chiefs scored twice during a span of 1:15 in the second quarter to push its lead to 33-0.
The Wildcats (2-6, 1-4) got into Hubbard territory with a 45-yard pass, but could not put points on the board.
Hubbard added two rushing touchdowns in the third quarter and another in the fourth.
The Chiefs gained more than 300 rushing yards while limiting Tharptown to less than 125 total yards.
It was the fourth shutout of the season for Hubbard.
Tharptown travels to Vina next week. The game begins at 7 p.m.
