BREAKING NEWS: RHS football player airlifted to Huntsville following head injury

A Russellville High School football player was airlifted to Huntsville Hospital Monday afternoon after suffering a head injury during practice.
Brett Evans, a junior, was practicing in the shoot – a device to help train linemen how to stay low at the snap of the ball – when he hit his head and fell over backwards.
Observers of the incident said he was unresponsive for a short period of time.
"He was not responding and they were afraid it was a spinal injury," said Evans' grandmother, Betty Moore. "Finally there was a little response and they thought it would be best to send him to the trauma center."
The airlift helicopter left the practice field about 5:30 p.m. An official from Huntsville Hospital said Evans was still in the Emergency Room at 7:10 p.m. and was not listed in any condition yet.
Russellville coach Doug Goodwin said before Evans left for Huntsville he was moving his hands and feet and was able to talk.
The biggest concerns with head injuries are spinal cord injuries, cranial bleeding and concussions.
