Auburn hosts Ball State
By Staff
Auburn got a scare from West Virginia last week, but the Tigers should be able to cruise to an easy victory as they host Ball State tonight.
The Tigers are looking for their third 4-0 start in the past six seasons while Ball State is looking for its first win of the year.
Fans will have plenty to cheer about tonight as the Tigers potent offense goes up against a Ball State defense that has allowed an average of 366.3 yards per game against north Texas, New Hampshire and Army.
The Tigers' offense has been the biggest story of the season. So far Auburn has scored a total of 127 points, which is two points fewer than the Tigers scored in their first seven games last season.
While the offense has gotten all of the headlines, the defense has shined as well.
The Tigers are tied for second in the nation in turnover margin (+2.3), and interceptions (8). They are third nationally in turnovers forced (10).
Auburn has won the previous two meetings between the two teams. The Tigers earned a 30-0 win in 2001 and a 63-3 win in 2005.
This will be the seventh time Auburn has played a team from the Mid-American Conference. The Tigers have won all six previous meetings and outscored their MAC opponents 238-37.
