Lions look to extend streak against West Georgia

The University of North Alabama football team is off to a strong start and is looking to keep its three-game win streak going tonight as the Lions welcome West Georgia to Braly Stadium.
The third-ranked Lions (3-0, 1-0) have won each of their first three games of the season in impressive fashion and return home to give fans a game against some Gulf South Conference competition.
The two schools have met every year since 1983 and UNA leads the all-time series 16-0. The series was closer a decade ago, but the Lions have won six of the previous seven meetings, including the last four.
UNA holds a 20-game home win streak in regular season games. The last time the Lions lost at Braly was a 38-21 loss at the hands of West Georgia.
The Wolves (0-3, 0-1) are also involved in another UNA streak. The Lions have scored in 91 consecutive games – the last shutout loss was a 49-0 defeat against West Georgia in 2001.
The UNA defense and the Wolves offense match up well. The Lions are allowing 16.3 points per game and an average of 288.3 total yards per contest.
West Georgia is averaging 17 points and 320.7 total yards.
UNA, which has been seeking a balanced offensive attack, might be able to improve its meager rushing stats. The Lions are averaging only 85.7 yards on the ground while West Georgia is allowing an average of 211 rushing yards per contest.
Tim Hicks leads the Lions with 194 yards on 17 rushing attempts this season. Marcus Simms has gained only 61 yards, but leads all Lions with four touchdowns.
The Lions' passing game, which is gaining 324 yards per game, is facing a Wolves' defense that is allowing only 199 yards.
UNA quarterback Harrison Beck has completed 74-of-119 passes this season for 916 yards. He has thrown three touchdowns and three interceptions.
