Red Devils host region favorite

VINA – In recent years Hazlewood and R.A. Hubbard were the best schools in Class 1A, Region 8. They have combined to win seven of the nine Region 8 titles since 2000.
This year both team have merged thanks to consolidation and are once again favored to win the region.
Vina hosts the Chiefs this Friday as they try to improve to 2-2 overall and 2-2 in Region 8.
All three of the games No.-7 ranked Hubbard (2-1, 1-0) has played this season have resulted in shutouts. The Chiefs opened the season with a 53-0 pounding of Westminster Christian Academy.
They got a taste of their own medicine the following week with a 20-0 loss to Maplesville, which was ranked sixth in Class 1A at the time. They earned their first region win last week by dominating Shoals Christian 60-0.
Vina began its season with a 41-14 loss to Shoals Christian.
The game begins at 7 p.m.
