RED BAY – Three individuals were taken into custody after police officers found components of a methamphetamine (meth) lab after their vehicle was involved in an accident.
Franklin County Sheriff Larry Plott said Wesley Andrew Jones, 25, of 295 10th Street NE in Red Bay, and Eric Duane Bryant, 30, of Hargett Trailer Park in Red Bay, were arrested and charged with second degree attempting to manufacture meth, after a Red Bay Police Officer found precursor chemicals used to manufacture meth in the vehicle when he arrived on the scene of an accident, where the suspect's vehicle ran in a ditch.
"We believe that Mr. Jones and Mr. Bryant were about to begin cooking the meth," Plott said.
Upon further investigation, authorities were also able to gather evidence that could lead to closing a burglary case in Vina.
Plott said Bryant was also charged with second-degree receiving stolen property after investigators searched his home and found approximately $1,300 in equipment, which is believed to have been stolen from a Vina business recently.
Suzanne Sanderson, 30, also of Hargett Trailer Park in Red Bay, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree receiving stolen property.
According to the Alabama Criminal Code, second-degree attempting to manufacture meth is a Class B felony, which is punishable by two to 20 years in prison upon conviction.
Bryant and Sanderson remain in the Franklin County Jail pending a $2,500 bond. Jones remains in custody pending a $5,000 bond.
