Tigers nominated for Team of the Week

RED BAY – Red Bay (2-0, 1-0) might be one of the most underrated teams in 2A, but that's the way Tigers coach Dale Jeffreys likes it.
His team was nominated for the WAFF-48 Sports Lynn Layton Team of the Week award, which was announced yesterday. Red Bay finished second in online voting with 747 votes (35.6 percent) behind Fyffe, which tallied 1,172 votes (55.8 percent).
"This isn't a good week to be Team of the Week," said Jeffreys, who predicted No. 2-ranked Fyffe would win the award. "And winning that doesn't mean anything (on the field)."
One team is chosen by the station's sports department from the areas of Sand Mountain, Morgan County, Huntsville and the Shoals.
"We try and look for a team that has had a great game that week, or a solid start to the season," said WAFF-48 Sports Director Scott Theisen. "This week the four choices were Fyffe, Hazelwood, Tanner and Red Bay, which had a great game against Phil Campbell last week, especially winning on the road. So, as a sports staff, we thought they earned a chance to become our team of the week."
