Girl fights off would-be kidnappers

A Russellville teen narrowly escaped what police think was an attempted kidnapping yesterday morning.
A 17-year-old female was walking to school on City Lake Drive when a small, black two-door Honda-type vehicle approached her, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
The vehicle was occupied by three unidentified Hispanic males who began making comments of a sexual nature in Spanish toward the girl, according to the report.
"The driver then got out of the vehicle, pulled a knife on the girl and tried to force her into the vehicle," Hargett said.
The girl fought to free herself from the suspect, and was able to escape with only a cut on the arm, Hargett added.
"The girl ran home, and she was taken to the emergency room for treatment of her injuries," Hargett said.
The driver of the vehicle was in his late twenties to early thirties, and was wearing a yellow shirt and dark pants.
The passenger in the vehicle was wearing a white shirt, and police have no description of the third suspect.
"The incident took place between 7:40 and 7:50 a.m., which is a busy time in the area," Hargett said.
Anyone who has any information in regards to this incident is asked to contact the Russellville Police Department immediately at 332-2230.
