FCYBO wraps up successful first season

Last Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Vina High School, the Franklin County Youth Basketball Organization concluded its initial season with a total of 37 teams participating in a 30-game tournament.
More than 300 Franklin County students between the ages of 5-13 participated, and a huge crowd was present throughout the tournament.
In the 6-year-old co-ed division, Vina cruised to the championship game with wins over Tharptown and Belgreen. Vina was led by top scorer Abby Hester, who scored more than 100 points during the season.
Phil Campbell had a tougher time reaching the championship game but held on to defeat Vina and win the title. Phil Campbell was led by top scorer Rhett Benford.
In the 8-year-old boys division, Tharptown was crowned champion after wins over Phil Campbell and Belgreen. Tharptown's balanced attack was led by top scorer John Staggs. Phil Campbell won the 8-year-old girls championship with a close victory over Tharptown. Alana Jones led Phil Campbell, while Ashlyn Vandiver led Tharptown.
In the 10-year-old girls division, Vina defeated Phil Campbell and Belgreen but then lost to Tharptown in the championship game. Vina was led by Fallyn Shotts, while Allie Chaffin led Tharptown. Vina's 10-year-old boys also made it to the championship but lost to Belgreen. Vina's leading scorer was R.J. Henderson, while Belgreen was led by Chase Landers.
In the 12-year-old boys division, Belgreen held on against a determined Phil Campbell team. Belgreen was led to victory by Josh Devancy and Jake Tittle. Skeeter Benford led Phil Campbell with his three-point expertise. In the 12-year-old girls division, Tharptown and Phil Campbell were declared co-champions due to stormy weather late Saturday night. Tharptown's leading scorer for the tournament was Braeden Sellers. Caden Pruitt led Phil Campbell.
Coordinator Richie Hester would like to thank all of those who put in countless hours to make the Franklin County Youth Basketball Organization a very successful program.
