Physical fitness is important for all

By Staff

Belgreen Elementary students celebrated their achievement with the Physical Fitness Challenge last week by having a Mardi Gras parade.
Their PE teacher, Susan Crittenden, had the children dress up in Mardi Gras masks and beads to give them a fun way to celebrate their achievement.
Physical fitness is important for everyone, especially for children. Heavier students have a harder time with physical activity and are at more risk for heart disease, diabetes and other weight related conditions.
As a mother, I am very concerned about what my kids eat, and I encourage them to get out of the house when it is nice out and not just because they get on my nerves, because it is good for them.
If my kids aren't able to run around to burn up all their energy, they have a hard time getting to sleep at night, which is already a crucial time at our house anyway.
Doctors will tell you that unhealthy children lead to unhealthy adults. Without good health, children may not be able to fulfill their dreams regardless of what they want to become.
Making sure children are able to be healthy at any age is one of the responsibilities we have a parents, educators and communities. So, for the health of your children, encourage after school sports, take them to play at the park, and help them choose physical fitness as a way of life now while they are young.
After all, staying healthy through life is important to help our kids reach their full potential of greatness.
Congratulations to Belgreen for their physical fitness achievement.
