Wildcats ready for first season

Tharptown High School experienced yet another first on Thursday when the Wildcats opened their inaugural varsity baseball season with a game against Hazlewood.
Tharptown will return to action Saturday at Red Bay.
"We're really excited and ready to get started," said head coach Clint Nunley, who served as an assistant under Red Bay coach Donnie Hastings the past two seasons. "The kids have had a good attitude all throughout the preseason. Most of our players are eighth and ninth-graders, and some of them have never played before. We just want to make progress this season and build toward next year."
