Evelene Bryson

Evelene Bryson, age 78, of the Moreland Community, passed away Friday, February 14, 2007.
Mrs. Bryson was a member of New Home Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Pearlie Adair; a son, James Carlton Bryson; and three brothers and five sisters.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2007, at New Home Baptist Church in the Moreland Community with Rex Riddle and Raymond Stewart officiating. Interment was in Moreland Cemetery.
Mrs. Bryson is survived by two children, James Dwight Bryson of Houston, AL, and Lonnie Lee Bryson of Double Springs; and a sister, Dafene Johnson of Decatur.
Cecil J. Eudy

Cecil J. "Dick" Eudy, age 80, of Haleyville, passed away Friday, February 9, 2007, at V.A. Nursing Home.
Mr. Eudy served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was also a police officer, retired from the State Highway Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Almeda Eudy; and three children, James Dan Eudy, Carolyn Sue Eudy and Teresa Diane King.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 13, 2007, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Stanley Adair officiating. Interment was in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Eudy is survived by his wife, Edith Mae Eudy; a sister, Jeanette; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Lorene V. Hardin

Lorene V. Hardin, age 81, of Red Bay, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Helen Keller Hospital.
Mrs. Hardin was born January 2, 1926, in Franklin County to Husie and Loni Humphries Johnston. She was a factory worker and member of Friendship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Henry Hardin; two brothers, Therman Johnston and Belton Johnston; and her parents.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Billy Nichols and Rev. Sammy Wallace officiating. Interment was in Burnout Cemetery.
Mrs. Hardin is survived by one daughter, Barbara Long and husband Travis Long, Sr., of Sheffield; one son, James Hardin and wife Brenda, of Hodges; four sisters, Edith Ledbetter and husband Edward, Averine Ledbetter, Sue Davis, and Marie LeMay and husband J.O.; two brothers, Howard Johnston and wife Virginia and Billy Johnston and wife Jane; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Farris, Karl Long, Travis Long, Jr. and wife Shari, and Tisha Letson and husband Mark; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter Long, Kristin Long, Sailor Letson and Sawyer Letson.

Daniel B. Hester, Jr.

Daniel B. Hester, Jr., age 80, of Russellville, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007.
Mr. Hester was born May 6, 1926, in Franklin County and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a loving husband and father. He was a veteran of World War II. He was awarded the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, the Army of Occupation Medal (Japan), the Victory Ribbon, and two Overseas Service Bars. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel B. Hester, Sr. and Hattie Hester; and his wife of 49 years, Imagene Newton Hester.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at the First United Methodist Church with Bro. Clinton Busler and Bro. Alan Beasley officiating. Interment was in Franklin Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were his family members.
Mr. Hester is survived by two sons, James B. Hester and wife Louise, of Russellville, and Joe D. Hester and wife Cindy, of Russellville; two daughters, Jean Ross and husband Frosty, of Columbus, GA, and Janice Lawson of Alabaster; two sisters, Audrey Grissom of Russellville and Dorothy Jarnigan and husband Gerald, of Pleasant Site; three grandchildren, Eric Hester of Starkville, MS, Alina Stevens and husband Mickey, of Marietta, GA, and Jenny Ross of Columbus, GA; two great-grandchildren, Savannah and Hank Stevens; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Clarence Washington Hood

Clarence Washington Hood, age 77, of Haleyville, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007.
Mr. Hood served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of V.F.W. Legion. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Leander Hood and Sara Millie Emaline Hood; two brothers, J.C. Hood and Edward Hood; and a sister, Louise Hood.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with James Garrison officiating. Interment was in Littleville Cemetery.
Mr. Hood is survived by his wife, Bobbie Jean Hood; three children, Laura Grace Thomas of Tennessee, Zelda Ruth Taylor of Haleyville, and Holly Amber Skeens of Haleyville; a brother, Hubert Chester Hood of Haleyville; seven grandchildren, Beth Grey, Matthew Thomas, Lyn Thomas, Zane Taylor, Sarah Brock, Carlea Brock and Tristan X. Brock; and a great-grandchild, George Grey.

Maggie Nina Jones, age 73, of Phil Campbell, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2007, at ECM Hospital.
Mrs. Jones was a member of Bear Creek #1 Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.E. and Maggie Coker; a brother, Frank Tedder; and two sisters, Marguerite Stalcup and Evelyn Harrison.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bear Creek #1 Baptist Church with James Bishop, Wade Wallace, Olen Burcham and Shannon Knight officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her husband, George Jones; her children, Gary Jones of Haleyville, Jean Hester and husband David, of Russellville, Michael Jones and wife Jennifer, of Florence, David Jones and wife Marissa, of Fort Hood, TX, Martha Southern and husband Chris, of Bear Creek, and John Jones and wife Bridget, of Florence; two sisters, Sarah Ferris of Memphis, TN, and Ruth Quayle of St. Loomis, CA; and her grandchildren, Heather Godwin, Jessica Allen and husband Jesse, Andy Jones, Bailey Jones, Emily Jones, Cole Southern, Maggie Southern and Hope Godwin.
In lieu of flowers, make contributions to the Bear Creek #1 Baptist Church Van Fund.

Edith I. Kilpatrick, age 85, of Littleville, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007, at her residence.
Mrs. Kilpatrick was a native of Colbert County and a member of Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Kilpatrick; a daughter, Dorothy Ilene Bates; and a grandson, Tracy Scott.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 19, 2007, at Pinkard Funeral Home Chapel in Russellville with Elbert Johnson and Felton Tramel officiating. Interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steve Green, Shane Kelso, Wade Kilpatrick, Matthew Kilpatrick, Tim Scott, Eric Scott, Daniel Scott and Chris Seal.
Mrs. Kilpatrick is survived by two sons, Thomas Kilpatrick and wife Judy, of Littleville, and Alton Kilpatrick and wife Margie, of Littleville; a daughter, Louise Green of Tuscumbia; a sister, Irene Trammel of Mississippi; ten grandchildren, Steve, Diane, Sandra, Wade, Tim, Tracy, Christy, Chris, Surina and Nikki; twelve great-grandchildren, Shane, Jennifer, Matt, Misty, Eric, Daniel, Devin, Drake, Morgan, Madison, Quinn and Dee; and one great-great-grandchild, Briley.

Marie Morgan, age 74, of Phil Campbell, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2007.
Mrs. Morgan was a native of Phil Campbell and a member of Union Hill First Congregational Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Flossie Cagle; her husband, L.L. Morgan; and two brothers, Nolan Cagle and W.B. Cagle.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 16, 2007, at Union Hill First Congregational Methodist Church with Bro. Mickey Crane and Bro. Coy Morgan officiating. Interment was in Union Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brad Champion, Brad Nichols, Heath Voyles, Timmy Fite, Scotty Brown and Billy Cummings. Honorary bearers were Derek Brown and Tanner Fite.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by three sons, Mitchell (Terelton) Morgan and wife Marilyn, of Phil Campbell, Teddy Morgan and wife Vickie, of Russellville, and Dalton Morgan and wife Tina, of Phil Campbell; five granddaughters, Jennifer Voyles and husband Heath, of Russellville, Miranda Fite and husband Timmy, of Russellville, Lisa Nichols and husband Brad, of Hackleburg, Tabatha Champion and husband Brad, of Russellville, and Chasity Morgan of Phil Campbell; two grandsons, Scotty Brown and Derek Brown, both of Phil Campbell; and three great-grandchildren, Harley Voyles, Madison Fite and Tanner Fite, all of Russellville.

L.V. Cagle Sartin, age 82, of Haleyville, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2007.
Mrs. Sartin was a member of Ninth Avenue Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents, H.C. and Carrie Defoor; her first husband, Hosie Cagle; and a brother, Kermit Defoor.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2007, at Pinkard Funeral Home with Andy Kizer and Vance Hutton officiating. Interment was in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Sartin is survived by her husband, Brady E. Sartin; a daughter, Barbara (Terry) Slatton of Haleyville; four step-children, Suzette Emmons of Indiana, and Brady Sartin, Jr., Thomas Sartin and Steven Sartin, all of Chicago, IL; a brother, Eldon Defoor of Birmingham; four sisters, Era Mae Martin of Devinace, OH, Verna Jacks of Clarksville, TN, Nettie Kilpatrick of Hartsville, SC, and Doris Lillard of Harvest, AL; four grandchildren, Dawn Howell, Chirsty Cagle, Scott Slatton and Holly Richardson; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Cagle, Daniel Cagle, Micah Cagle, Tyler Howell, Emma Howell and Carrie Ann Howell; and six step-grandchildren, Brittany Sartin, Kayla Sartin, Sabrina Sartin, Rebecca Sartin, Karl Emmons and Melissa Emmons.

Clara Mae Tucker Smith, age 88, of Golden, MS, passed away Friday, February 16, 2007, at Care Center of Red Bay.
Mrs. Smith was born April 11, 1918, in Alcorn County, MS, to E.G. and Evalena West Tucker. She was an employee of Zion Industries in Zion, IL, and was of the Pentecostal Faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rev. W.W. Smith; two sons, Robert Smith and Wesley Smith; one daughter, Doris Smith Lindley; four step-daughters, Hazel Andrews, Opal McDaniel, Vinnie Ryder and Jewel Lance; and two grandsons, Doug Smith and Bobby Harbin.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 18, 2007, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. L.D. Blevins officiating. Interment was in Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers were her grandsons.
Mrs. Smith is survived by seven children, Paul Smith and wife Jo, Isaac Smith and wife Mary, and Ted Smith, all of Dennis, MS, Leon Smith of Guntersville, Frances Harbin and husband Stanley, of Golden, MS, Vivian Gilchrist of Pell City, and Inez Hillard of Ardmore; two special friends, Margaret Hammock and Frances Terry; forty grandchildren; sixty-four great-grandchildren; and seventeen great-great-grandchildren.
