Russellville pair to compete for Miss UNA title

FLORENCE – Two Russellville ladies will take to the stage Jan. 27, both vying for the title of Miss University of North Alabama.
Addie Elizabeth Pickett and Erica Ann Murray will be among 14 ladies in the running for a shot at local fame. The winner is also eligible to compete in the Miss Alabama pageant.
Murray, a music education vocal/choral major, will perform "Love is Where You Find It." Her platform is Music Education: The Linchpin of American Education.
Pickett, an elementary education major, will tap dance to "In the Mood." Her platform is Y.O.U. Matter-Your Own Uniqueness – Mentoring Youth.
Shoals area radio personality Fletcher Brown will emcee the Miss UNA Scholarship Pageant Saturday, January 27, 2007, at 7 p.m. in Norton Auditorium.
Tickets are $5 for students and $10 for faculty, staff, and community. Student and general admission tickets are being sold at the MANE Card office. General admission tickets are being sold at the Flowers Hall Ticket office on North Pine Street.
Brown, a former UNA student, is an air personality with KIX 96 in Florence. The theme of the pageant is "Sound of the Shoals," featuring music made famous in local recording studios.
To be presented along with the contestants are 14 "Rising Stars," young women from the Shoals area who range in ages from seven to 11 and who are mentored by the contestants.
