A Russellville man was charged with raping a teenager Monday morning.
Giovanni Barrientos, 19, 100 Town and Country Trailer Park in Russellville, was taken into custody Monday morning, and charged with first-degree rape and first-degree burglary, Russellville Police Chief Chris Hargett said.
Barrietos and the victim were acquaintances, and Barriento is accused of raping a 15-year-old girl who he had been trying to have a relationship with, Hargett said.
"He [Barrietos] tried to get the girl to let him in, and when she did not, he forced his way in and forcibly raped her," Hargett said.
Police responded to the call from downtown Russellville early Monday morning, Hargett said.
The charges are Class A felonies, and are punishable by 10 years in prison, District Attorney Joey Rushing said.
Other charges could be added by the grand jury because of the girl's age.
Barrientos is being held in the Franklin County Jail on $200,000 bond.
