A Blountsville man was arrested in Red Bay, and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance.
Buel Rayburn Wise Jr, age 53, was taken into custody around 11:15 p.m. Thursday night after failing a field sobriety test, Red Bay Police Chief Pat Creel said.
Red Bay Police said that they found the 18-wheeler crossing the yellow double line and had to move to the side of the road to avoid a collision with the vehicle.
"The driver was supposed to be traveling from Florence to Russellville but ended up in Red Bay," Red Bay Police said.
The Red Bay Police found drug paraphernalia in Wise's 1997 Kenworth, along with a Loricet pain pill. Officers also found a plastic baggy with approximately 1 1/2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine in the driver's sock. Creel said.
Wise was taken to the Franklin County Jail. Bond was set at $3,500. If convicted, the Department of Transportation could revoke his CDL license.
