The Russellville Board of Education voted to increase their compensation during the regular board meeting held Wednesday, Dec. 20.
"I recommend that the compensation for the school board be raised because I know you are not going to bring it up yourselves," Wayne Ray told the board.
The board members' pay will be increased from $300 per month to $600 per month. Board members began receiving compensation during the 1990s for their work on he school board. Russellville school board has never had a pay raise, Dr. Wayne Ray, superintendent, said.
"Our board members elected not to take their pay during proration during the 2001-02 school year," Ray said.
In other business, the board voted to approve the financial statement for Nov. 2006. Payroll for the month totaled $1,322,145.35, and invoices for all programs totaled $166,862.56, Ray said.
The school system received $12,103.44 in E-rate funding during Nov. and $33,153 insurance loss recovery funding for repairs for the stadium wall and bleachers.
The board voted to accept inventory from the donated by the Franklin County Family Services Center, Inc., which closed earlier this year.
The inventory included office supplies, equipment and furniture.
The board approved the use of the football facilities on February for the RHS football team to host a Play Station Tournament.
Before adjourning, the board approved various personnel recommendations including the transfer of Jake Linville to take over Kelvis White's teaching position, and as defensive coordinator on the Golden Tiger football team.
White accepted an offer last month to become an assistant coach at Birmingham Southern.
The next board meeting will be held Jan. 25, 2007 at 3:30 pm at the Central office.
