Dove Tree project offers opportunity to help children
By Staff
'Tis the season for giving, and most people dig deep into their hearts and into their pockets during this time of year in hopes to bring a Merry Christmas for all.
A great way to ensure that each child in Franklin County receives something this Christmas is through the Dove Tree project and Adopt-a-family through Faith Mission Outreach.
Most people do select one or two doves from trees to help provide families without means have a good Christmas. But, think of the prospects if we adopt an entire family of children. Each child in the family would receive two modestly priced toys instead of donations being taken individually.
More ground could be covered more quickly. If every business, corporation or organization in Franklin County adopts one family, the possibilities could be endless.
Most civic organizations usually donate money, or gifts or both, and that is great. But, for those who don't, we urge you to rethink your stand and your heart. Christmas should be a time of magic and wonder for children.
No child should have to wake up on Christmas morning to find nothing under the tree or that Santa does not exist simply because their parents are having a rough patch financially.
Everyone is challenged to go to work today, and ask their co-workers to help them adopt a family this Christmas. Don't be discouraged if one person says no. Go to the next person, and so on. Eventually, you'll have some takers. But, what if they all say yes. Think of how many families you and your coworkers could adopt, and think of how great you would feel because the true gift is giving.
