A Jasper man has been arrested and charged with burglary after being found inside a Phil Campbell residence last week.
Harold Pace, Highway 13 South in Phil Campbell, found Vester Alton Stiles II, age 36, in his home Wednesday, Oct. 18.
Pace had just entered the home when he saw Stiles in the hallway. Pace asked Stiles to leave the residence before noticing that his guns were taken out of their cabinet.
Pace called the police after realizing that Stiles had intended to steal his guns, Merrell Potter, Phil Campbell Police Chief, said.
"Harold gave us a description of the suspect's truck and of the suspect which led us to Stiles," Potter said.
Pace identified Stiles as the intruder in a photograph line up with six photos.
Stiles was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 25 by the Walker County Sheriff's Department. Phil Campbell Police Officer Andy Marbutt transported Stiles from Jasper to Phil Campbell, where Chief Potter recorded his statement. Then, Stiles was confined to the Franklin County Jail; bond was set at $4,500, Potter said.
At press time, Stiles had not made bail.
