RHS volleyball team earns first win

The Russellville High School volleyball team earned its first win of the season on Saturday, defeating Rogers 25-21, 25-11 at a tournament at Brooks High School.
In other action at the tournament, the Lady Golden Tigers fell 21-25, 13-25 to Colbert Heights and 14-25, 16-25 to Brooks.
Cassie Montgomery led Russellville with seven aces on the day, and she also recorded 12 attacks, seven kills and five digs.
Sasha Willingham, Jordan Dollar and Ariel Howard each shared the team lead with nine kills for the tournament, and Anne-Marie Hall recorded a team-best 19 assists.
Willingham added 12 attacks, and Hall had six aces.
Dollar recorded 18 attacks and five digs, and Calli Davis had 12 assists and three kills.
Alyssa Turbyfill finished with three aces and four kills, and Howard added five digs, two aces and two blocks.
Halie Harvey chipped in with five digs, and Derryl Gardner added three digs. Lindsey Gardner had one attack and one dig.
Russellville was scheduled to play at Wilson on Tuesday and will host Lauderdale County and Athens on Thursday.
In middle school action on Monday, Russellville's seventh-grade team defeated Florence in three straight games. The eighth-grade team lost to Florence but defeated Cherokee.
Both RMS teams are scheduled to play at Deshler on September 5.
