Tharptown softball wins Danville Invitational

Jessica Myrick pitched a complete game shutout and Heather Hatton scored both runs on Saturday as Tharptown edged Wilson 2-0 in the championship game of the Danville Invitational.
Myrick struck out four and allowed four hits.
She also had an RBI single in the first inning to score Hatton, who had walked and then stolen two bases.
Hatton walked again in the third inning and then advanced to third on a hit by Myrick. Lauren Scott's grounder drove in Hatton and made it 2-0.

Tharptown 10 Wilson 3
Hollie Hines had a pair of triples and Jessica Myrick struck out five batters in four innings as Tharptown won Friday night's opener.
Heather Hatton had two hits, and Laken Barnett added a double.
Myrick, Tosha George, Lindsey McCluskey and Brittany Allen each added one hit.
Tharptown 11 Falkville 4
Jessica Myrick struck out six batters in 2 2/3 innings of relief on Saturday as Tharptown finished 2-0 in pool play.
Laken Barnett had a triple for the Lady Wildcats, and Hollie Hines, Heather Hatton and Lindsey McCluskey each added a single.
Tharptown 7 Florence 4
Laken Barnett had a pair of doubles and Hollie Hines also had two hits to back up another strong outing by Jessica Myrick as Tharptown advanced to the finals.
Myrick struck out eight batters in seven innings.
The game was tied 3-3 before Lauren Scott walked, stole second and later scored on a passed ball to give Tharptown the lead in the top of the sixth.

Hollie Hines' inside-the-park home run capped off a two-out rally by the Lady Wildcats in their final at bat on Monday.
Tharptown trailed 1-0 in the top of the fifth when Lori Metcalf drew a two-out walk. After a single by Laken Barnett, Hines lined a pitch into the gap in right-center.
Jessica Myrick was the winning pitcher, striking out five.
Tharptown 13 Speake 4
Laken Barnett had three hits, including a home run, to lead Tharptown in Monday's second game.
Hollie Hines added two hits, and Casey Mitchell had a double. Jess Myrick, Lindsey McCluskey, Heather Hatton and Dovie Ergle each had one hit. Danielle Waldrop and Heather Ayers each scored two runs.
Hatton earned the win.
