Grace Grissom Hammock

Grace Grissom Hammock, age 82, of Red Bay, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2005, at her residence.
Mrs. Hammock was born December 7, 1922, in Itawamba County, Mississippi, to Salone and Vera Grissom. She was a housewife and a member of Red Bay Church of God. She will be met at Heaven's gates by her husband, Jack Hammock; a daughter, Jackie Ann Kuykendall; her parents, Salone and Vera Grissom; three brothers, Lelon Grissom, Elwin Grissom and John Lewis Grissom; and three sisters, Ruth Creech, Oma Jean Justice and Inez Hammock.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel in Red Bay with Bro. Jimmy Massey and Bro. Mike Johnson officiating. Interment was in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers were Christopher Moses, John Moses, Craig Kuykendall, Ronnie Kuykendall, Mark Horn and Joey Hughes.
Mrs. Hammock is survived by a daughter, Barbara Black and husband Eddie, of New Site, Mississippi; a son, Narris Lee Hammock of Red Bay; two brothers, Kermit Grissom of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, and Ken Grissom of Deland, Florida; two sisters, Betty Petitas of Beaufort, South Carolina, and Jacky Wood of Tallahassee, Florida; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Floyd Carter Hughes
Floyd Carter Hughes, age 85, of Haleyville, passed away Friday, March 25, 2005, at UAB Hospital.
Mr. Hughes was the owner of Hughes Lumber Co. and a member of First Baptist Church in Haleyville. He served in the Army Air Corps as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles N. and Oma Lowman Hughes; and a brother, Paul Hughes.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 27, 2005, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Dr. Jim Cooley and Dr. T.B. Stringfellow officiating. Interment was in Winston Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Hughes is survived by his wife, Auzline Knight Hughes; two children, Connie Jackson and husband Jack, of Maryville, Tennessee, and Don Hughes and wife Debby, of Haleyville; a brother, Earl Hughes and wife Betty, of Haleyville; five grandchildren, Carter Hughes, Trey Jackson, Scott Hughes, Elizabeth Jackson and Caroline Hughes; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Tommy Edwin Marbutt, Sr.
Tommy Edwin Marbutt, Sr., age 57, of Phil Campbell, passed away Thursday, March 24, 2005, at UAB Hospital.
Mr. Marbutt was employed at Wal-Mart in Haleyville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mary Alice Marbutt.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Haleyville with Jerry Hester officiating. Interment was in Antioch Cemetery near Phil Campbell.
Mr. Marbutt is survived by his wife, Sherry Garrison Marbutt; two sons, Eddie Marbutt and wife Kay, and Andy Marbutt and wife Sarah, both of Phil Campbell; a brother, Bob Marbutt and wife Jean, of Haleyville; and four grandchildren, Nicholas Marbutt, Savannah Marbutt, Christian Marbutt and Austin Marbutt.

Brooke Nacole Mills
Brooke Nacole Mills, age 18, of Golden, Mississippi, passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005, in Tishomingo County.
Brooke was a senior at Red Bay High School and was employed by La Estancia Restaurant. She attended Parker's Chapel Baptist Church. Brooke was preceded in death by her grandmother, Doris Massey, in April of 2004; and her brother, Cory Mills, in December of 2003.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2005, at Calvary Family Worship Center with Bro. Elden Lindsey and Rev. Gene Cooley officiating. Interment was in Halltown Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Casey Fleming, Duston Mills, Josh Phifer, Matt Phifer, Tim Mills and Tony Massey. Honorary bearers were members of the senior class of Red Bay High School.
Brooke is survived by her mother, Sheila Massey of Golden, Mississippi; her father, John Thomas Mills of Vina; two sisters, Ashley Mills of Golden, Mississippi, and Dylan Mills of Vina; a brother, Duston Mills and wife Heather, of Golden, Mississippi; her grandparents, Bro. Bobby Massey of Golden, Mississippi, and John Henry and Jeanette Mills, of Vina; her special boyfriend of two years, Josh Fleming; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Travis Randall Mitchell
Travis Randall Mitchell, age 50, of Vina, passed away Monday, March 21, 2005, at his residence.
Mr. Mitchell was a native of Alabama and was a construction worker for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Travis Mitchell.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at Rocky Top Baptist Church in Hackleburg with Bro. Mark Daniel officiating. Interment was in Rocky Top Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Sherman Hill, Jimmy Mitchell, Charlie Mitchell, Shelton Mann, Nathan Mann, Mark Green, Allen Chandler, Heath Hulsey, Charlie Dixon, Brandon Bohannon, Kenny Musser, Tony Mitchell and Jack Mitchell.
Mr. Mitchell is survived by his wife, Joann; three daughters, Jessica Hill and husband Sherman, and Jodie Flannagin and husband Ricky, both of Bear Creek, and Brandy Hudson of Vina; two sons, Tony Mitchell of Bear Creek and Kenny Musser of Vina; his mother, Charlene Mitchell of Phil Campbell; four sisters, Betty Green and husband Mark, and Patsy Dixon and husband Charlie, both of Bear Creek, Pauline Chandler and husband Allen, of Spruce Pine, and Gina Loveless of Hackleburg; four brothers, Jimmy Mitchell, Jackie Mitchell and Tom Mitchell, all of Phil Campbell, and Charlie Mitchell and wife Susan, of Bear Creek; a grandson, Seth Flannagin of Bear Creek; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Myrle Estelle Skidmore
Myrle Estelle Skidmore, age 74, of Russellville, passed away Sunday, March 27, 2005.
Mrs. Skidmore loved her sons and grandchildren more than anything in the whole world. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Sandra Hester, Dr. Santos and the staff at Community Home Care. Mrs. Skidmore was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Skidmore; her parents, Wredge Montgomery and Carrie Saint Montgomery; a sister, Eva Dell Green; and two brothers, Louis Montgomery and Herman Montgomery.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at Spry Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mike Smith officiating. Interment will be in Duncan Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Van Dobbs, Marty Hargett, James Montgomery, Clint Sikes, Milton Jones and Corey Nicholson.
Mrs. Skidmore is survived by four sons, Billy Skidmore, Bobby Skidmore and wife Vicki, Thomas Skidmore and wife Syrenia, and Tim Skidmore and wife Angie, all of Russellville; three brothers, Charlie Montgomery of Jasper, Tennessee, John Montgomery of Russellville, and Robert Montgomery of Hohenwald, Tennessee; three sisters, Edna Montgomery of Red Bay, Minnie Bell McGee of Phil Campbell, and Bonnie Blanton and husband J.B., of Muscle Shoals; two grandsons, Dustin Skidmore of St. Charles, Missouri, and Blake Skidmore of Russellville; three granddaughters, Kristin Skidmore, Katie Skidmore and Anna Skidmore, all of Russellville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
