Phil Campbell completes area sweep of Bulldogs

Matt Thomas struck out six batters in three scoreless innings on Tuesday as Phil Campbell completed a two-game area sweep of Belgreen with an 11-1 win.
Aaron Voyles got the Bobcats (5-3, 2-0 Class 2A, Area 16) off to a good start with a three-run triple in the top of the first inning.
Phil Campbell added another run in the third and took advantage of four Belgreen errors in the fourth to score six more runs.
Griffin Harris led Phil Campbell at the plate with two hits and three runs scored. Matt Thomas, Brett Thomas and Kevin Lacey each added a hit, and Lacey and Randy Cochran each scored two runs.

Jackson Agee struck out eight batters in five innings on Tuesday as the Wildcats opened area play with a win at Red Bay.
Randy Lowery (0-2) took the loss for the Tigers (2-4, 0-1 Class 2A, Area 16). He allowed 12 hits and 11 runs, only two of them earned, in five innings.
Agee went the distance for Colbert Heights (5-2, 1-0), allowing four hits and a run.
The Wildcats broke open the game with six runs in the second inning.
Kurt Kennedy, Bradley Long, Brandon Brown and Brent Sartin each had one hit for Red Bay.

Evan Mann, Chanler Raper, Wesley Jarnigan, Kyle Glasgow, Matt Russell and Kurt Kennedy all picked up singles wins for the Tigers.

Betsy Jarnigan, Lydia Hammock, Paige Palmer, Julie Jarnigan, Mandy Hester and Tamara Burleson all earned singles victories for Red Bay.

Lindsey Rickard, Jennifer Fennel, Elizabeth Moore and Shayna Glasgow each won singles matches for Russellville.

Adam Brown shot 37, and Grant Fancher and David McKinney each shot 39 to lead Red Bay in Tuesday's nine-hole match at Twin Pines Country Club.
Russellville Black's Art Richey shot 36 to win medalist honors. John Seal shot 42, and Preston Beasley shot 43.
Bryan Brown led Russellville Gold with a 45. T.J. Seagraves and Eli Fisher each shot 47.
