Getting ready for Progress — Pride 2005

By Staff
This time of year means different things to different people — some really love winter; most of us get caught up in a case of post-Christmas, pre-spring doldrums.
But for the Franklin County Times, January means "Progress" is in full swing.
Progress is the name given to a yearly project here at the FCT — a project that stretches over most of three months.
Pro-gress is our largest special section of the year, a series of sections that will be released at the end of February.
This year, our theme for Progress is "Pride." In Franklin County, we take Pride in our communities, our schools, our health care, our education, our industry, our local business, our people and our National Guard unit, among other things, and you'll find stories and information about all those things in this year's Progress edition.
In our "Day in the Life" section, we plan to feature artwork by local students.
Our "Health and Education" section will feature stories about local health-care providers and stories on our city and county school systems.
In our "Communities" section, we will profile some small communities in Franklin County and what makes them unique.
Also, we'll have sections devoted to Phil Campbell, Russell-ville, and Red Bay and the pride those cities take in their people and businesses.
There's another reason for theming this year's section "Pride." We want to take pride in the product we produce, from the three-times-weekly newspaper to our biggest special section of the year.
Without our advertisers, of course, this section would not be possible, so we thank those businesses and individuals who have already become a part of this year's section. We hope you look forward to "Pride 2005," and we hope you enjoy it when we deliver it to you in less than two months.
