Introducing the Meridian Symphony Orchestra …

This is a special feature introducing the musicians of the Meridian Symphony Orchestra. The public can see the orchestra in concert on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. in Meridian Community College's McCain Theater.
Marco Alvarez is a recent addition to the Meridian Symphony Orchestra, having played in the cello section this past season. A native of Honduras, he works at the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
Alvarez initiated cello studies in Honduras in 1991. In addition to playing with the MSO, he also plays cello in the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra.
His hobbies include bike riding, walking and listening to music. He particularly likes jazz, and the compositions of Saenz and Bach.
Suzanne Beaudry has been a member of the MSO viola section for the six years. She was born in Birmingham and still calls this Alabama city "home."
A pianist at age 7 and a violinist by seventh grade, Beaudry migrated to the viola in high school and found her niche.
She is a teacher and dance accompanist at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, and is principal violist and keyboardist for the Red Mountain Chamber Orchestra. She also plays the piano, violin, harpsichord and viola da Gamba (a six-stringed viola played between the knees).
In the community program at the Alabama School of Fine Arts, Beaudry teaches strings and piano. She is on the board of the National Viola da Gamba Society of America.
Her next appearance with the MSO will be Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. at Meridian Community College's McCain Theater.
