The seven-year-old All-Stars were able to get in two at-bats in the Dixie Youth Coach Pitch District Four tournament, but the weather soon put an end to the championship games on Monday night.
The seven-year-olds were playing the rubber game in their best-of-three series, and the eight-year-olds were scheduled to follow.
Because of the wash-out, the teams will have to wait to play tonight, with West Lauderdale and Philadelphia squaring off in the seven-year-old championship starting at 6:30 p.m.
Philadelphia and East Mississippi will play the eight-year-old championship following the seven-year-olds.
The tournaments started last Monday and have been struggling to get finished because of rain.
According to coach Dane Ethridge of the West Lauderdale seven-year-olds, the delay is probably tougher on the coaches than it is on the players.
The rain delay is tougher on the eight-year-olds, however, because the eight-year-old champion will advance to the state tournament on Friday.
The teams will have to hope the field will dry out for the game tonight. According to Ethridge, the field will have a chance to drain in time.
