Services for Virgil C. Watkins will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bill Webb and Keith Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Watkins, 72, of Meridian, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Rush Foundation Hospital. He was the retired owner of Watkins Trim Shop. A member of Midway Baptist Church, he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He was a veteran and a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Jennie Watkins of Meridian; two sons, Mickey Watkins and his wife, Jeanie, of Jackson and Tim Watkins and his wife, Kristy, of Meridian; a sister, Peggy Cumberland and her husband, Roy, of Lauderdale; a brother, Billy Watkins and his wife, Glenda, of Meridian; six grandchildren, Mandy, Katie, Lori Beth, Jake, Miller, and Merrick; and several nieces and nephews dear to his heart.
He was preceded in death by a son, William Mark Watkins; his parents, Chester Clay Watkins and Annie Shults Watkins; and a sister, Dot Jones.
Active pallbearers will be Howard Watson, Robert Pierce, James Davidson, Jim Thompson, Jimmy Arledge, Pruitt Smith, Dale Nicholis and Danny Miles. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Midway Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Visitation will be Monday from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry &Gardner Funeral Home for Myrtle Lewis, 98, of Meridian, who died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Kemper Homeplace Nursing Facility.
Arrangements were incomplete at Berry &Gardner Funeral Home for Willie J. Jimison, 64, of Porterville, who died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2003, at Jeff Anderson Regional Medical Center.
