Meridian Dixie Pre-Majors headed to World Series

At Clarksdale, the Meridian Dixie Pre-Majors punched their ticket to the World Series in Thomasville, Ala., last Wednesday.
Meridian picked up two wins in the final day of the state tournament to advance to the World Series.
Meridian defeated Carthage 16-10 in its first contest of the day, and the squad went on to defeat Purvis 8-4 to take the state crown.
Meridian begins play in the World Series against South Carolina on Friday in Thomasville.
Kyle Boswell picked up the win on the mound for Meridian in the championship game against Purvis.
The young hurler struck out 10 batters in seven innings, yielding six hits and two walks in the win.
Nathan Peden fueled Meridian's offense against Purvis smacking two singles for two RBIs.
Dave Woods recorded a double and an RBI for Meridian and Parker Temple hit an RBI single in the win.
Kedrick Martin smacked a single and an RBI for Meridian against Purvis, and Tyler McMullan added a double of his own.
Chris Harris and Boswell each recorded singles in the championship-game victory.
McMullan pitched all seven innings in the slugfest against Carthage, allowing 10 hits while striking out 10 batters.
Randy Diveley notched six RBIs for Meridian against Carthage on a single and a double to lead the offensive charge.
Martin smacked two doubles and picked up an RBI in the win, and Justin Scott hit a two-run double.
Michael David recorded a double, two singles and an RBI for Meridian, and McMullan helped his own cause with an RBI single in the win.
