FEMA extends disaster assistance period

The Federal Emergency Management Agency announced Thursday it will offer disaster assistance to victims of both the April 6-7 and the April 24-25 flash floods.
FEMA initially approved disaster assistance for people in 28 counties who were affected by the April 6-7 severe weather. State officials had asked FEMA to add the April 24-25 storms as well.
The FEMA Disaster Recovery Center for Lauderdale County is in the lobby of the Central Fire Station in Meridian at 2500 14th St. Storm victims can visit the center from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. daily.
FEMA's mobile Disaster Recovery Center will make rounds next week in Scott, Newton and Clarke counties. The mobile center is a satellite-equipped FEMA bus with representatives who will inform residents about disaster aid available to them.
Here is the schedule for the mobile Disaster Recovery Center:
Wednesday Scott County Maintenance Shop, 13856 Highway 80 W. Forest, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Thursday Chesney Grocery, 5913 Highway 494, Little Rock, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
Friday Enterprise Town Hall, 500 River Road, Enterprise, from 8 a.m.-6 p.m.
