Carrie Ponder will step down as executive director of Hope Village for Children at the end of May.
In a telephone interview Friday, she said she will return to North Mississippi where she was born and raised and work as executive director of the Family Crisis Center in Oxford.
Ponder said she informed the board of directors of Hope Village last week that she would be leaving.
She said Hope Village's executive committee will conduct a search for a new executive director. Ponder has been involved with the formation of the home for abused and neglected children for two years.
