Not an architect
To the editor:
My name is Will Ballou and I am a residential designer with Dale and Associates Architects in Jackson. I have run into a problem with an article I agreed to write for one of your former reporters, Lynette Wilson, "Building a home, not a house" published in your newspaper Feb. 27, 2003. Unfortunately, whoever wrote the description of me worded it so that it sounds as if I run the Meridian office of Dale and Associates, Architects.
Dale and Associates does not have an office in Meridian and does not market itself as a branch office. I do occupy office space in Meridian solely for the purpose of residential design but because I am not yet a licensed architect, I cannot sell myself as an architect nor can I head a branch for a licensed architectural firm.
I apologize for the inconvenience but I would greatly appreciate a correction in your newspaper to help me resolve this dilemma. I would also ask that I be notified when it is published so that I may forward it on to the Mississippi State Board of Architecture.

Kudos to VFDs and others
To the editor:
We would like to thank Causeyville, Whynot and Vimville Fire Departments for responding so quickly to our call on Friday night, April 4, 2003, when we lost all we had to a fire.
To Justin and Jeff Boykin, no words could ever tell you the appreciation we have for you. Your unselfish actions will never be forgotten. You went in and faced that fire before the fire departments ever showed up and never once thought about your well being. We cannot say "thank you" enough.
To everyone who has donated and called, we thank you, too. Without you we would be left with nothing. We pray that God's blessings will pour all over you. Thank you to everyone.

After Saddam
To the editor:
President Bush's decision that the United States and the Defense Department should be in charge of Iraq after the hostilities have been concluded has a historic parallel in that after World War II generals were put in charge of occupied Japan (Gen. Douglas MacArthur) and the U.S. occupied portion of Germany (Lucius Clay). These two men were superb choices. They changed Japan and Germany into democracies. In Germany, Clay worked closely with German Chancellor Konrad Adenauer. President Bush's decisions make possible a democratic Iraq.

Michigan teen seeks readers' responses
To the editor:
My name is Jessica Harper. I have red hair and blue eyes. I was born at the Pensacola Naval Hospital on April 5, 1989. I am going to turn 14 on April 5. I am pretty much a typical teenager. I play the clarinet in the band at my school. I am going to try out for the high school marching band drum line. I sing, and I am learning how to play the acoustic guitar.
My Language Arts teacher just recently assigned a project to us called "The Great American Mail Call." This is where we got the addresses to three newspapers to learn more about different states in our country. Many students got a lot of responses and many got very few or no responses. I wrote to New Jersey and I was one of the many who did not get any responses.
I am writing to you to request that you insert my letter into your newspaper. I would greatly appreciate if the kind people that read your paper would respond to my letter. It would be fine if people would send postcards or anything that they would like to send. It would be very nice if someone who knew my family and or would write me a letter or just send me a postcard.
I would like to thank you in advance for putting my letter in your newspaper. I would also like to thank in advance the people who read this letter who send me things. Thank you for taking your time to read my letter.
