Rib House moves to Meridian

Ron and Mary Haaf, owners of the Rib House, have brought their special style of St. Louis ribs to Meridian.
The Rib House opened in June 2002 in the House Community, about 20 miles north of Meridian. It relocated to 5570 Highway 19 N. on Jan. 31 when the Haafs partnered with Larry Donald of Meridian.
The restaurant also features an expanded menu, including ribs, pulled pork, chicken and barbecue pork sandwiches. All dinners are served with a choice of two sides including: baked beans, potato salad, cole slaw and french fries.
Average price for dinner is $10. The most expensive dinner is a slab of ribs at $15.99. On the lower end of the menu is a Rib House burger served with fries for $3.99.
The process of preparing the meats begins early in the day. Ron rubs the meats with a blend of several spices, which he said helps seal in the juices.
The meat is then slow roasted for several hours, just in time for the restaurant's 4 p.m. opening on Fridays and noon opening on Saturdays.
But don't fill up on the main course save room for dessert. Mary prepares homemade peach cobbler and banana pudding daily. Cheesecake has also been added to the dessert menu.
Children 6 and under eat free and senior citizens 60 and older get a 10 percent discount.
While the speciality of the Rib House is the slow cooked ribs and their secret blend of seasonings, diners may also crave a catfish plate, served with fries, cole slaw and hush puppies.
