Robert Wayne Preston, 30, remained in the Lauderdale County jail this morning on a $15,000 bond after being charged Monday with armed robbery.
Preston, of 4389 Blue Top Road, was taken into custody Saturday after a late-night robbery Friday at the Dixie Gas station off Interstate 20/59 at Kewanee.
Witnesses said the suspect was armed with a knife. A small amount of money was taken.
Maj. Ward Calhoun of the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department said Preston and Richard L. Harris, 18, of 335-A Springhill Road, were both arrested on drug charges at a residence a couple of hours after the robbery.
Harris, Calhoun said, had nothing to do with the robbery. He is charged with possession of cocaine. Preston also faces charges of possession of cocaine.
