Panthers take win over Magee

The Quitman Panthers improved to 11-9 and 3-1 in division play with a 59-48 victory over Magee (8-13, 3-1) Friday night.
Coach Steve Hampton's Panthers stumbled out of the gate and fell down early 12-0 in teh first quarter. Hampton then looked to his second unit for help. Enter Percy Carpenter, Alandis Cooks, Antoinne McKenzie, Ricky Johnson and B.J. Parks, 10 points. The five-man subsitution worked for the Panthers as they were able to get the game turned around and hold on for the victory.
The Panthers hit 11 out of 12 freethrows and were supported by Prince Trotter and Lonnie McGee each lead the Panthers in scoring with 11 points.
Quitman girls 62
Magee 46
The Lady Panthers were all over the Magee Lady Trojans in girls prep basketball Friday night. Quitman took a 30-21 halftime lead and cruised the rest of the way to upend McGee 62-46.
Leading the Lady Panthers on the scoreboard were Kemonica McGee and Mashana Bonner with 16 points each. Shaquilla Mack added 11 points in the Lady Panther victory. Jennifer Carter had 10 points for Magee.
Macon girls 41
Sylva Bay Aca. 25
Macon Central took care of Sylva Bay Academy in MPSA girls basketball Friday 41-25. Macon Central ups its record to 18-11.
Ironically, Macon Central lead 18-11 at halftime which proved to be enough for the victory. Leading scorers for Macon Central were Meghan Stokes, 23 points, 14 rebounds, and Olivia Reid, 12 points.
Macon Central will travel to WestPoint on Monday to take on Oak Hill.
Enterprise girls 42
Scott Central 35
Entrerprise improved their record to 7-13 by outlasting Scott Central in girls hoops action Friday.
The Lady Bulldogs were lead by Shanda Bester with 22 points and Kasey Jemerson with 10 points. Scott Central was lead by Elyse Clay with 21 points.
