Janie Pauline Miller George
Retired teacher
Services for Janie Pauline Miller George will be held today at 11:30 a.m. at Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carl Stephens officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Collinsville.
Mrs. George, 90, of Meridian, died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002, at King's Daughters and Sons Rest Home. She was a lifetime resident of Lauderdale and Kemper Counties. She attended Old Leeville School and Collinsville High School. She had a long, happy and healthy life and will be missed by a large family.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann Braddock of Meridian; sons, Paul D. George of Collinsville, John C. George of Moss Point and James "Jim" George of Atlanta; grandchildren, Tracey Jo Jones, Charles B. "Chuck" Braddock Jr., Thomas Andrew "Andy" Braddock, Johnny C. George, Danny Earl George, Judson Peery George, Zachry Miller George and Steve Key and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. J.C. George; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Miller; sisters, Prudy Chesney and Doris Alawine; and a brother, C.C. Miller.
Visitation will be today beginning at 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.
Norman E. Driskill Jr.
Services for Norman E. Driskill Jr. will be held today at 1 p.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dr. Malcolm Lewis and Jamie Lameroux officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Mr. Driskill, 27, of Meridian, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, in Meridian. He was a student at the University of West Alabama and a member of Northcrest Baptist Church.
He graduated from West Lauderdale High School and East Mississippi Community College where he was on the baseball team. He was on the first State Games of Mississippi Baseball team. He was a member of Lamar Baseball team state champions in 1987; 1992 state runner up for the Meridian High School Wildcats; 1993 State Champions at West Lauderdale High School and he was a 1980-81 Deb dumpling.
Survivors include his parents, Norman and Evie Driskill of Meridian; a sister, Tracey Cossey and her husband, Kenneth, of Killen, Ala.; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Riley of Meridian; his paternal grandfather, Norwood J. Driskill and his wife, Dot, of Meridian; uncles and aunts, William F. Riley, Betty DiPalma and her husband, Ronnie, Sherry Davis and her husband, John, Gary Driskill and his wife, Carol, and Allen Driskill; nephews, Cody and Riley Dennis; a niece, Meagan Dennis; and a special family friend, Keith Goodson of Meridian.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, W.E. Riley; paternal grandmother, Faye Gardner; and an uncle, Freddie Beason.
Pallbearers will be Shane Mayatt, Rick Guy, Brett Covington, Chad Rainer, Monte Marshall, Kevin Kerley, Steven Foley, Mike Marlow and Todd DiPalma.
Mildred C. Townsend
Retired cashie
DEKALB Services for Mildred C. Townsend will be held today at 2 p.m. at Stephens Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Steve Lampkin and Sam J. Hull officiating. Her grandson, Chris Gully will speak at the graveside. Burial will be in Cherry Cemetery.
Mrs. Townsend of DeKalb, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital. She was a retired cashier with East Mississippi Electric Power Association
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Gully and her husband, Albert, sisters, Polly C. Townsend, Peggy Hailey and Maxine Haskins, all of DeKalb and Bobbie Skipper of Columbia, S.C.; three grandchildren, Trina Cheatham of Philadelphia, Chris Gully and Jason Gully, both of DeKalb; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Townsend; a daughter, Frances Anderson; and a granddaughter, Beth Cagle.
Mose Nance
Retired cattle farmer
PHILADELPHIA Services for Mose Nance will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Cedarlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Nance, 95, of Philadelphia, died Monday, Dec. 30, 2002, at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Survivors include his son, Tom Nance of Noxapater; one granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Mae Nance; and a grandson, Mike Nance.
Visitation will be today 4 p.m.-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
